Cindys Palace
About This Spot
Stepping into Cindy’s Palace is like entering a lively banquet hall where nostalgia and bustling chatter gently mingle. The moment you cross the threshold, you’re welcomed by the hum of conversation, the metallic clatter of dim sum carts rolling from table to table, and the inviting warmth of a space that honors tradition in every corner. It’s a place where the pace feels deliberately unhurried—an invitation to slow down, savor each bite, and soak in the energetic yet comforting buzz of shared moments around generous tables.
The atmosphere carries the distinct charm of an old-school Hong Kong dim sum experience, complete with white tablecloths and large, comfortable seating arrangements that encourage gathering with friends, family, and even strangers drawn together by a love for authentic Cantonese flavours. Whether nestled indoors or enjoying the spacious covered outdoor patio, there’s a sense of casual celebration here, where time unfolds over food that’s crafted with care and arrives at just the right moment. It’s the kind of spot where each dish tells a story—not just through its taste but through the ritual of its presentation and the lively anticipation it sparks.
Mealtime at Cindy’s Palace is a dance of textures and aromas—the delicate pop of crispy spring rolls, the silky richness of BBQ pork tucked inside Cindy’s special baked buns, or the familiar comfort of velvety congee that feels like a warm hug on a rainy Vancouver day. The experience embraces the joy of discovery, whether your eyes are drawn to a steaming platter of pan-fried noodles glazed with caramelized onions or the subtle spiciness of deep-fried squid dusted with pepper and salt. Drinks and desserts alike — like fragrant teas and golden egg tarts — complete the narrative with subtle flourishes, encouraging guests to linger just a little longer.
Beyond the food, Cindy’s Palace pulses with a human energy that is both timeless and uniquely local. The rhythm of dim sum carts threading through the room fosters an ongoing interaction between diners and servers, a kind of shared performance that keeps the meal dynamic and the mood buoyant. Here, strangers exchange smiles over steamy bamboo baskets, kids dart between tables, and elders recount stories entwined with the smells and tastes of home. It’s this spirit of warmth, conviviality, and genuine moments—more than any single dish—that leaves a lasting impression.

It's been a number of years since we last visited Cindy's Palace. They've pivoted to have their tables socially distanced (with a large covered outdoor patio as well). Most of the items we tried were great, including the glistening beef with onions and flat rice noodles (chow fun), the meaty bean curd wrappers with pork filling, and the warm and saucy bbq pork filling inside Cindy's special baked bbq pork buns. The beef beef rice rolls had a flavorful filling with parsley and water chestnuts but the rice wrapper was a bit thick for my liking. The baked tapioca pudding with red bean was good too but I wish the topping was a bit more cookie-like. Update July 2024: They still have social distancing barriers inside to separate the tables. Ordered the following: crispy wontons ($12.98) - large wontons packed with shrimp filling and served with a sweet and sour dipping sauce, beef and parsley and water chestnut rice roll ($9.58) - not bad but couldn't taste the water chestnuts, bean curd rolls ($8.98) - pork, carrot, celery, bamboo shoots, and fungus in the filling and served in a very savory sauce, fried taro dumplings ($8.98) - with a filling of Portuguese sauce, chicken, and mushroom, Cindy's special bbq pork bun ($9.50), and siu mai ($8.98) - big and meaty pork and shrimp filling. We also got 10% off (probably early bird special). UPDATE - APR 2025: Pretty much the same since our last visit. Fairly good pricing. Fried Taro dumplings in Portuguese sauce with chicken and mushroom ($8.98) creamy inside. Spring rolls ($6.75) crispy and hot filling. Crispy chicken chow mein with bean sprouts ($24.98). Beef tripe with ginger and green onion ($9.50) Chiu chow dumplings ($8.98) wrapper is too thick and not enough filling inside. Bean curd rolls ($8.98) good sauce and flavour. 10% off during our visit. UPDATE - May 2025: Came back for a dinner visit because we saw some specials they had displayed on their TV screens. Buddha Feast ($26.98) actually has lots of vermicelli underneath but not as much variety of veggies. The Taro Duck ($39.98) was pretty good. Nice crispy exterior with soft taro inside and meaty duck. It does fall apart a bit because the taro is so soft. The Mui Choy Kau Yuk ($29.98) is a thicker cut version but it's tender and we liked it.

Cindy’s Palace maintains that high-energy, "large banquet hall" feel that defines a great dim sum morning. Seeing the metal steam carts maneuver through the tables is a highlight—it’s a dying art in Vancouver, and it makes the experience much more interactive and authentic. Curry Baby Squid: A standout dish. The squid is tender without being rubbery, and the curry sauce has just the right amount of warmth and depth. Chicken Feet (Phoenix Claws): Deeply flavorful and steamed until they practically melt off the bone. The sauce is rich and savory. Rice Noodle Rolls (Cheong Fun): Visible on the table, these look silky and well-sauced, a must-have for any dim sum spread. Variety: The cart selection is impressive, ranging from Lo Mai Gai (sticky rice in lotus leaf) to the classic Siu Mai and Har Gow.

Cindy Palace in Vancouver is a fantastic spot for dim sum lovers. The variety is impressive, and every dish comes out fresh and flavorful. The chicken feet are a standout — tender, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The service is efficient even during busy hours, and the atmosphere is lively yet comfortable. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get. Whether you're a dim sum regular or new to it, Cindy Palace is definitely worth a visit.

Large portions of really great food. The pork siu mia was so delicious. Big comfortable tables, and fast service. Don't forget the spicy deep fried squid!

We stumbled upon Cindy’s Palace for dim sum. Completely unplanned, but sometimes those spontaneous decisions lead to the most memorable experiences. From the moment we walked in, it felt like we had stepped into an old-school Hong Kong dim sum restaurant. The setting was incredibly nostalgic, with rolling dim sum carts, white tablecloths, and a mix of large families and elderly guests chatting away in Cantonese. It really brought back memories of Sunday mornings growing up. The food itself wasn’t mind-blowing, but it was comforting. The dishes were familiar and satisfying, though not particularly refined. What stood out wasn’t the execution of individual plates, but the overall experience - the warmth, the pace, the noise, and the authentic setup. It’s one of those places where you go less for culinary perfection and more for the feeling of home. One highlight was the dessert cart featuring old-fashioned items like tapioca pudding, something you rarely see these days. That alone was a lovely throwback. Portions were also extremely generous, so don’t over-order unless you’re coming with a big group. Service was fast and friendly in a no-nonsense, very traditional way. Staff were attentive, kept things moving, and made the visit smooth from start to finish. If you grew up in Hong Kong or are simply craving that classic dim sum restaurant experience, Cindy’s Palace will take you right back….even if the food isn’t exactly gourmet. Sometimes, that familiar feeling is exactly what you’re looking for!!

Very nice servers who made my mom's bday dinner feel special. No problem storing and bringing out the cake afterwards. Lived in this hood for 10 years and this is the first time here...definitely been missing out. Need to come back and try the dim sum.

My friends and I always love at dining at Cindy's Palace! We love the outdoor dining options. They have strong space heaters to use in the winter! It's a wonderful place to get Dim Sum with friends. We appreciate that most of the staff are wearing N95 masks, as there are few safe places to dine for disabled people.
